Music festival 2017 „Clavis“ / St. Petersburg

The city of St. Petersburg was built according to the European pattern and standards from the 18th to the 19th century. Here were the best masters from France, Holland, Belgium, Italy and of course from Germany. St. Petersburg was, until 1917, the capital of Russia. Today it is called the "Capital of Culture of Russia". The historic city center with 2,300 palaces, stately buildings and castles is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this respect, St. Petersburg is only surpassed by Venice. There are 80 theaters and 100 concert halls in the city. The Mariinski Theater is one of the most famous opera houses in the world. It began its work in 1783 and is the home of the Mariinski ballet. The composers Michail Glinka, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Igor Stravinsky and Dmitri Shostakovich lived and worked in the city.

Here you can register for the Piano Festival "Clavis St. Petersburg 2017".

Registration is possible until the 20th of September.

The "Clavis St. Petersburg" festival is held in one of the oldest schools in the city, Shostakovich School No. 235, with a theater and music department. The school has several practice rooms and a concert hall where the international piano competition for children and youth opens up its doors. The school is located along the river Prjagka and is not far from the city center. Since 1968 the school has its own museum "The Muses were not silent". In the archive of this museum are the highly esteemed document collections of Dmitry Shostakovich. One room is dedicated to the composer's 7th Symphony (1942).
"The Muses were not silent" is a museum with hundreds of exhibits on those difficult times for the city (then Leningrad), the time of the Second World War. During the war the muses of the Russian artists were not silent. In the museum the impressions of this period are vividly represented by artists' works of various styles. Naturally, the festival participants experience a special guided tour through the museum's rooms. At present, the school is patronized and supported by the son of the famous composer Maxim Shostakovich. Passive and aktive participants will experience the seminars and master classes of leading pianists and teachers from Europe, Asia and Russia.

The Gala Concert is given in the castle.
