In 1809, Dmitry Sheremetev, the only heir to the whole vast fortune, did not inherit the artistic Gifts of his parents (the mother- an opera singer, the father- teatrical Lover), but their passionate love for Music and art. His Chorus was known all over Petersburg. He also actively supported artists, including the great Portrait painter Orest Kiprensky, who also painted his famous Portrait Alexander Pushkin in the fountain house. A continuous Exhibition is available for the guests, thanks to the Ermitage, the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Museum "Ostankino". In Addition to the "house works", harmonize the new art objects bought or donated in the last 25 years. As a Pearl of the Museum one can take the Collection of Musical Instruments, which can be seen in the entrances and in the rooms on the first floor.  This Collection has over 3000 exhibits. Here visitors can see the Russian church bells, antique instruments, Musical instruments from the Family of the last Emperor Romanov, private instruments of famous Composer and even listen to their tones. Particularly harmonious is the Collection of baroque instruments. Ist wonderful variety corresponds to the castle style, it resembles the embroidery of the lattice fence and the wall Ornaments. This famous Collection is regarded as one page of the Musical history of the Fountain House. The new pages of the history of Music are often filled with the palace`s concerts.
